Your Dog's Stay
Thank you for considering Escrick Dog Retreat for your dog's stay.
We are a small, family-run home boarding service based in Escrick, North Yorkshire. To provide a calm, home-from-home experience, we generally care for one household of dogs at a time, allowing us to give every guest the individual attention they deserve.
Unlike larger kennel-style environments, your dog stays as part of our family, enjoying a relaxed home environment, secure garden, countryside walks and a daily routine tailored to their individual needs.
As we also share our home with our young son, every dog must be calm, comfortable and predictable around young children. Every new dog therefore attends a Meet & Greet, allowing us to make sure our home is the right fit before any booking is confirmed. If we don't feel we can provide a safe and enjoyable stay for everyone, we'll always explain our decision honestly.

A Typical Day
Every dog is different, so we adapt each day to suit their usual routine, personality and energy levels.
Mornings begin with time in the garden, followed by breakfast served in line with your dog's normal feeding schedule. We then enjoy a relaxed start to the day before heading out for walks tailored to your dog's age, fitness and preferences.
Between walks, dogs spend their time enjoying play, enrichment activities, plenty of companionship and, just as importantly, opportunities to rest and unwind in a calm home environment.
As evening arrives, our canine guests become part of family life, relaxing with us before dinner, one final visit to the garden and settling down for a comfortable night's sleep. Throughout their stay, we'll keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can see how they're getting on.
Beautiful Countryside Walks
Located in the heart of Escrick, we're surrounded by peaceful countryside, giving your dog the opportunity to enjoy safe and varied walks throughout their stay.
Every walk is tailored to your dog's age, fitness, personality and energy levels. Whether they prefer an energetic adventure or a slower pace with plenty of time to explore, we'll make sure they enjoy every outing.

Caring For Your Dog's Individual Needs
Every dog has their own routine, preferences and requirements, and we'll do everything we can to maintain these throughout their stay.
We ask owners to provide their dog's usual food to help avoid unnecessary changes to their diet and keep familiar routines in place.
We'll follow your dog's normal feeding schedule wherever possible and are happy to administer medication in accordance with your instructions when required.
Whether your dog enjoys an active day exploring the countryside or prefers a quieter pace with plenty of time to relax, we'll tailor their care to help them feel safe, comfortable and at home.
Before your Dog Stays
Every new customer begins with a relaxed Meet & Greet, giving your dog the opportunity to explore our home, meet us and make sure they're comfortable in their new surroundings.
As we board dogs in our family home and generally care for one household at a time, the Meet & Greet also allows us to ensure that our home is the right fit for your dog. If we don't feel we can provide a safe and enjoyable stay for everyone, we'll always explain our decision honestly.
For dogs staying longer than two nights, we'll normally arrange a trial overnight stay before their first longer booking. This helps your dog settle into our routine and gives everyone confidence before their holiday.
